Let It Snow Boots

Like the rest of the UK population, I have been snowed in today which has prevented me from going for my first day of work. I knew there'd be a glitch of some description, just didn't realise it would be so extreme! Actually, as it happens this turned out to be a bit of a blessing as I have been admittedly slacking in the world of fashion/gossip blogs in the past week or so. This is down to being mainly distracted by the gym and life and...ok I admit it, it's probably mostly down to spending time split between watching Grey's Anatomy, lusting after cute McDoctors and Polywhoring my arse off. Will try to be less consumed by such trivials things in future.

So anyway, last night when Christmas decided to arrive a couple of months late I realised I would definitely have to reconsider my wardrobe options when working at a fashion house...in the blizzard. Flats were out the window so the only option in my shoe cupbard were boots. So I don't own that many pairs of boots due to them costing an absolute fortune and my (previously mentioned) contempt for shoe stores. I'm sorry! I know, what kind of girl am I?? Clearly I've got a long way to go before I can lick the YSL's of Carrie Bradshaw...So here's what the options were:

- A pair of metallic silver flat ankle boots with a pointed heel. They were a cheap impulse buy after being egged on by a friend who is clearly a bad influence on my shopping decisions.
- A pair of black flat ankle boots with a rounded toe that kind of look like wellies with the tops cut off. I ordered these online the other day and they actually turned out to be gross. They make my feet look massive, my legs look stick thin (not a good mix) and go with nothing in my wardrobe.
- Grey flat mid-calf boots that are made out of a soft material. They're comfortable, pretty and my version of the Ugg boot (which I detest). But they would soak up snow before I'd even stepped out the house
- A gorgeous pair of flat brown leather boots with a softly pointed toe, but are worn out with holes in the sole where I've over-worn them. These were £75 from Faith and were bought by my lovely boyfriend after I cried in Topshop. Don't ask, it was the girliest and most horrendous thing I've done in a public forum. But worth the shoes.
- A black pair of cheap faux-leather (ie plastic) boots that have all the ridges worn off the sole because they were incredibly cheap, nasty things from Primark.

I had to go with the latter in the end, despite a risk of falling over at least 32 times by the time I actually got into work. This has made me realise that one pair of good expenisve boots is worth more than lots of pairs of cheap crap boots. So i'm on the lookout for some nice flat PVC boots that are £110 or less (hey, I have a pretty tight budget). And I have to LOVE them. And they have to fit. I';m more picky about my shoes than my men. That's terrible. And now for a pic of my main men this week...
